HOW WE CAN BE OF SERVICE

About Us

Our journey with the South Atlantic Islands began in October 2008.  Our founding member, (Wikus Gerber) was contracted by the Apple Group construction company to be part of a small, but skilled team, to build a new Crayfish Factory on the Island of Tristan da Cunha.

Our company (known as Master Projects) was later approached by the Government of Tristan da Cunha to supply specialized goods for the Island's water and sewer projects.  Once these projects were completed, numerous requests came through for the supply of goods to the Tristan community and for their various Governmental Departments.

In October 2014 our main focus shifted to procurement and export and our new company Umgusi SA was registered.

Umgusi SA does not specialize in the procurement and export of specific goods.  Over the years we procured and exported all types of General Goods, Steel Structures, Construction Material, Heavy Duty Construction Equipment, Agricultural Equipment, Fertilizers, Animal Feed, Chemicals, Vehicles, Oils, Lubricants and also Purus Prilled Ammonium Nitrate (PPAN) required for explosives.

In 2015 Umgusi SA broadened their horizons and entered the market of St Helena Island. We currently provide services to private individuals, businesses and also some Governmental Departments.

In December 2016 the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), based in the United Kingdom, approached Umgusi SA for the procurement and export of goods to Gough Island required for one of their Conservation projects.

In December 2017 the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS), also based in the United Kingdom, approached Umgusi SA for the procurement and export of goods needed for Shark Tagging (Blue Belt Programme)  near Tristan da Cunha and surrounding islands.

More to come!!
